Addiction Therapist
Growth Through ConnectionLife doesn’t come with a road map. Things happen. We figure out ways to cope with certain symptoms like anxiety, depression, mood swings, stress, trauma, conflict, grief. Maybe we turn to a drink of alcohol or a bump of cocaine. Maybe we use marijuana to take the edge off after a long day of work. Maybe it’s something else. Whatever we chose as a short-term solution for our uncomfortable thoughts or feelings is just that, a short term solution. The underlying issues that make us turn to substances in the first place are still there, we need to get to those. And a trained addiction therapist can help.
Addiction Therapy: What to Expect?
Our addiction therapists meet you where you are. We work with you to find what works best for you. We do not have an agenda, an affiliation, or a one size fits all fix. We understand the unique underpinnings of each individual and create a therapeutic environment and a treatment plan that is consistent with your individual values. This may be a 12 Step approach, or maybe you are looking for stability in moderation, or maybe a holistic intervention. We will meet you where you are. This comes with challenge and accountability and direction, but also with acceptance, compassion, and a strong connection.
In addition to the resources we have available through Connected, Seen & Heard, we also have connections with other resources and addiction therapists in the community. Our expertise over many different levels of care (inpatient, residential rehab, outpatient, medical management) has helped us to build relationships with different providers in the area. We can help make the transition to or from another level of care more comfortable.
An Addiction Therapist Can Help the Whole Family
Maybe you are not the one struggling with substance use. Maybe you are the parent, the spouse, the child of someone using substances to cope with life’s difficulties. Connected is here for you too. We can provide the psychoeducation on substance use, codependency, family systems, and attachment theory that can help you make sense of it all. And then we can provide you the time and space to process through it. Because we see you…and we know it affects you too.
If you or a loved one are in need of therapy for addiction, please give us a call. We are here to help.
